That wasn't always true, and Avatar: The Last Airbender demonstrated this with "The Ember Island Players," a cherished installment in its last season now being receiving a special Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair collection.

The complete Secret Lair superdrop for the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender edition was revealed recently. This includes five Secret Lairs, and although the one called "My Cabbages!" is certainly amusing nod to the show's best background character, the additional releases appear slightly uninspired, with one notable exception: "The Ember Island Players."
Drawing from installment 17 in the final season of the beloved series, this collector's drop includes these specific cards:
- 1x Phantasmal Image as "Absolutely Accurate Actor"
- 1x Braid of Fire
- 1x Cursed Mirror
- 1x Mask of Memory
- 1x Thespian's Stage
The reason this installment remains memorable
Viewers of the series warmly cherish this particular episode, which acted as a recap of the protagonist Aang and the group's quest leading up to the conclusion. In contrast to standard summary installments, or compilation episodes, "The Ember Island Players" wasn't motivated from financial limitations or production issues. The creators specifically aimed to offer viewers a chance to recap the overall plot, yet they chose to execute it with flair.
Throughout the segment, the heroes watches a play depicting their exploits in a theater set on Ember Island, titled The Boy in the Iceberg. The play itself is wildly exaggerated, cheesy, and completely amusing. It excels because it plays on the characters' views of themselves, juxtaposing them compared to how society (and particularly the Fire Nation) perceives them. It contains an ideal level of self-awareness, and it becomes perhaps the finest interpretation of the series we have had.

When it comes to cost-effectiveness, this is a great Secret Lair due to one key factor: Braid of Fire. This specific card is valued between $20 and $40 on various platforms as of now, and at $29.99 you can snag the complete collection, or alternatively $39.99 for the foil version.
