“That was regrettable. That was kind of an exchange with our fans out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a large group of Dallas supporters—not New York fans, Cowboys fans. The whole venue was filled with enthusiasm for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally emphasized that the gesture was entirely unintentional, happening amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I just showed the incorrect digit,” he noted. “It was inadvertently done. I’m not kidding. Should you call it accidental, you can. But it got corrected rapidly.”

This incident isn’t the initial instance an NFL owner has been fined for inappropriate behavior. Recent examples include:
